The job of a representative is to carry oneself in a manner that will bring respect to your district. I will work hard to gain your respect and represent you proudly in Indianapolis. I do not intend to simply take up a seat in the House of Representatives; I am determined to make a difference. That is what leadership is, that is what a leader does.
My priorities are strengthening our business climate, fiscal responsibility, improving our schools, and uniting small communities for stronger representation in Indianapolis:
Passing Right to Work legislation will help Indiana lead the way in job creation. We have to create a climate that encourages business investment and expansion. Aggressive economic development efforts and reducing regulations will do just that. It is time for government to get out of the way and give businesses back to their rightful owners, the entrepreneur.
There can be no greater gift we can give our children than the gift of higher education. Access to a quality education in the classroom for all Hoosier children is my priority. We need to start them on the path to success through early education. Our investment has to be made in the early formative years where learning begins. Innovative education with a focus on math, science and reading skills will prepare our children for the jobs of the future.
Strengthening small communities:
We can strengthen our voice in Indianapolis by uniting small communities. Joining forces as a coalition of rural communities we can bring attention to the needs of small towns that have been neglected by those in Indianapolis and surrounding urban areas.
As a practicing Catholic, I am committed to protecting the life of the unborn. Having two adopted children, I thank God for having his hand on their birthmother's hearts when they made their decision to give our children life. We can never thank them enough for the family they gave us.
Defense of Marriage:
I believe marriage is a sacred, critical contract for our society and it should only exist between one man and one woman. Diversity can flourish without further weakening the critical role of traditional marriage in this country.
Gun Owner Rights:
I am in strong support of our rights to keep and bear arms as embodied in the 2nd Amendment. As a member of the NRA, I believe the 2nd Amendment is vital to a free nation, preserving the rights or our citizens to defend themselves and their country.
Indiana has done an outstanding job in keeping costs within our budget. Indiana has earned a AAA rating and has a surplus budget. Hoosier families work hard for their money and we will make sure they every tax dollar is spent wisely.
Fighting the drug battle:
The use of methamphetamines is kill our communities. I have introduced a house bill again this year to make Ephedrine and Psuedoephedrine a scheduled drug. Billions of tax dollar are being spent, families lives are being ruined and our jails are overcrowded due to this epidemic. The current tracking system is telling us what we already know. We don't want to track meth labs, we want to eliminate them.
